The ACT Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (ACTHPA) is the club for all hang glider, paraglider and trike pilots in the region. Welcome to our website. The region is excellent for carbon-free flying and there are some great areas for motorised flight as well. We have many excellent sites, hang gliding and paragliding instructors and local pilots. We maintain a number of launch sites and windtalkers in the local area to help in deciding when and where to fly. If it is 'on' then you can pretty much guarantee that someone will be out flying.
ACTHPA meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Canberra Labor Club in Weston Creek starting at 7.30 pm. At the meetings we talk about flying, members' concerns about sites, procedures, etc and put members in contact with each other. We have a strong social scene.
This web site contains information for pilots flying in the region which includes the ACT, the southern tablelands, the south-western slopes of NSW and in the Kosciuszko National Park. We have an excellent site guide with Google Earth visualisation. The forum contains up to date information on flying plans and recent flying. If you are planning to go for a fly at one of the sites listed in the site guide post a message so you can meet up with others. The Weather section links to the Bureau of Meteorology and other useful weather information.
Remember, if you are a visiting pilot to contact one of the locals prior to flying any site.
